Request ID: FOI-1896-2223 Date published: 29 November 2022
You asked
I want to make a submission to London Transport about a radically different public transport system. In order to demonstrate the benefits, I need some information about the Wimbledon to Beckenham Junction tram.
According to Google Earth, from Wimbledon to Beckenham Junction is 18 km.
If I divide that by 52 (minutes) that means the trams go 0.346 metres per minute, times 60 minutes and that is 21 km/h. Am I right?
I also need to know how many passengers have a seat and what is the maximum number of standing passengers.
I would also like to know the cost per kilometre of installing the Croydon trams.

We do not hold information regarding the cost (£) per km of installing the trams - the tramway was built under Tramlink Croydon Limited (TLC), TfL didn’t take over TLC until 2008.
