You asked

In late May, early June 2016 a sign was changed on northbound Gunnersbury Avenue from a 40mph to 30mph. The sign is located next to a speed camera. There is also a slip road which had a 20mph sign - this was also changed to a 30mph. Please could you provide me with the exact date of this change. Secondly could you provide me with any minutes of meetings where it was discussed why this sign needed to be changed from a 40mph to a 30mph.

Thank you for your email received by us on 2 January 2017 asking for information about changes to signage on A406 Gunnersbury Avenue.  Please accept my apologies for the delay in responding to your request.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require. You asked:

We have no records of any signage being changed next to the safety camera outside International School. However, two 40mph signs were removed from the northern end of the 20mph service road, approximately 100 metres north of the safety camera, which were replaced by two 30mph signs.  This work was undertaken between the 06-08 June 2016. No 20mph signs were removed as part of this work.

Secondly could you provide me with any minutes of meetings where it was discussed why this sign needed to be changed from a 40mph to a 30mph.

As mentioned, we have no records of any signage being changed next to the safety camera. However, the signage that was changed at the northern end of the 20mph service road, approximately 100 metres north of the safety camera was changed in order to facilitate an extension to the temporary 30mph limit on the A406 Gunnersbury Avenue.  This extension of the 30mph limit was provided due to local stakeholder’s concerns relating to the pedestrian diversion route. This diversion route is in place because of the closure of the western footway, required as part of the Power Road Bridge replacement works.

The initial extent of the 30mph limit terminated at approximately the northern end of the 20mph service road and was extended by approximately 150m in the northbound direction. This was to ensure that the full extent of the pedestrian diversion, where pedestrians are required to cross over side roads joining the A406 and over the footbridge, were captured within the extents of the 30mph limit.  This was not the case when the limit terminated at the northern end of the service road.  The temporary 30mph limit was extended under Temporary Traffic Order GLA2016 0237 which came into force on the 14 May 2016.
