1) Mill Hill Circus roundabout in NW7 is due to be redeveloped to reduce congestion and accidents; I would like an update on the status of this including a copy of any consultation documents and a possible timescale for the works. 2) Details of any planned diversions (including the planned diversion route) or alterations to the following routes as far into the future as possible: 240, 251, 605, 221, 186, 113, 292. 3) If possible please send me a list of bus stops which are not considered accessible by TfL in the Borough of Barnet, and which ones are planned to have Bus Stop Accessibility works. 4) I would like to know how TfL identifies which bus stop shelters to replace with the newer dark (black/grey) bus stop design, and a list of all bus stop shelters due to be replaced in the future in Barnet. 5) When will bus route 240 get more environmentally friendly buses? The route currently uses Euro 4 vehicles without any kind of adaptation to reduce emissions, will this change?

We answered

TfL Ref: 1883-1718

Thank you for your email received by us on 12 October 2017 asking for information about Mill Hill Circus roundabout and local bus services.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Environmental Information Regulations and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require.

1)Mill Hill Circus roundabout in NW7 is due to be redeveloped to reduce congestion and accidents; I would like an update on the status of this including a copy of any consultation documents and a possible timescale for the works.

The timeframe for consultation on Mill Hill Circus is early 2018. We are currently working on the design of this vicinity, therefore neither a formal programme nor consultation material are available at this stage.

2)Details of any planned diversions (including the planned diversion route) or alterations to the following routes as far into the future as possible: 240, 251, 605, 221, 186, 113, 292.

As previously mentioned, due to the scheme being in its early stages of development, diversions to bus services have yet to be decided.

However, once diversions are confirmed we publish them via the following link to our website: https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/buses/temporary-bus-changes?intcmp=47900

3)If possible please send me a list of bus stops which are not considered accessible by TfL in the Borough of Barnet, and which ones are planned to have Bus Stop Accessibility works.
4)I would like to know how TfL identifies which bus stop shelters to replace with the newer dark (black/grey) bus stop design, and a list of all bus stop shelters due to be replaced in the future in Barnet.

We have been working with all London Boroughs over the last four years to improve the accessibility of bus stops across the capital. On borough roads, the local authority highway is responsible for ensuring the bus stop infrastructure is appropriate and TfL has been providing funding to help improve accessibility wherever possible.

We consider a bus stop to be accessible if the kerb height is greater than 100mm and has a time plate in place. There also needs to be a clearway in place with access to the stop free of impediments

The London Borough of Barnet is currently reviewing the stops that require accessibility improvements. As TfL relies entirely on the borough to provide information on the level of accessibility of any stop, please contact Barnet Council directly for further information at: https://www.barnet.gov.uk/citizen-home/council-and-democracy/forms/Freedom-of-Information-request-(FOI).html

5)When will bus route 240 get more environmentally friendly buses? The route currently uses Euro 4 vehicles without any kind of adaptation to reduce emissions, will this change?

I can advise that the contract comes up for renewal in April 2019 and as current vehicles will be approaching the end of their working lives they will be replaced by newer and cleaner vehicles. All London Buses must be raised to the ultra-clean Euro VI engine emission standard by 2020. We plan to achieve this target through retrofitting around half the vehicles in the fleet to this standard and replacing older buses with new vehicles.
