I refer to your response for information under TfL Ref: FOI-1686-2425 I should be grateful if you could provide the following information : 1. What are the regulations concerning public consultation in respect of cycle lanes, paths and road safety arrangements in relation thereto (such as those mentioned in the above referenced FoI) ; 2. Please provide all relevant documentation in support of your responses.

Thank you for your request which we received on 9 September 2024, asking about regulations concerning public consultation in respect of cycle lanes.

 

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act and our information access policy. I can confirm we hold the information you require. 

 

The statutory duties placed upon Highway Authorities when implementing changes to the road network through the Traffic Management Order process is stipulated in the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (RTRA). Authorities may decide to go above and beyond statutory consultation requirements stipulated in the Act. Given the specific scheme which you referenced is a Westminster City Council’s scheme, you will need to contact them to understand the processes they followed.
