Request ID: FOI-1826-2324 Date published: 03 October 2023
You asked
How many vehicles does TFL currently use which do not meet ULEZ standards?
We answered
Our Ref: FOI-1826-2324
Thank you for your request received on 29 August 2023 asking for information about Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) compliant TfL vehicles.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.
There are approximately 1000 vehicles supporting the operation of London Underground, London Overground, London Buses, Trams, the Elizabeth Line, and all of our other services. All of the vehicles in the TfL fleet are ULEZ compliant. There is one vehicle owned by the London Transport Museum, which does not comply with ULEZ requirements which we are aiming to replace with a ULEZ compliant van when the lease expires shortly. This vehicle is used very rarely to move items between the Museum Depot at Acton and the Museum at Covent Garden.
If this is not the information you are looking for please do not hesitate to contact me.
Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
Yours sincerely
Gemma Jacob Senior FOI Case Officer FOI Case Management Team General Counsel Transport for London [email protected]
CLARIFICATION, 3 October 2023: It was incorrect to describe this vehicle as a leased van. The Museum had a non-compliant van, but this was replaced with a ULEZ-compliant vehicle in June 2023. The one non-compliant vehicle owned by the Museum is currently off the road and not in use whilst it has a conversion to make it ULEZ compliant.
