TfL Ref: FOI-1822-1819
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 10 October 2018. I apologise for the delay in replying to you.
Your request has been processed in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm we do hold the information you requested. You asked for:
1) Number of residential properties owned by TFL.
160 residential properties are owned by TfL.
2) Number of residential properties owned by TFL that are occupied.
128 of residential properties owned by TFL are occupied.
3) Number of residential properties owned by TFL that are unoccupied.
There are 32 residential properties which are currently vacant. A number of these properties are undergoing refurbishment works before they can be offered for letting, and four are already on the market for sale or letting.
4) Average rental paid by property in 2 above.
Rental figures vary significantly dependant on a number of factors including size and location of the property. On average rents are £14,000 per property per year.
5) Average rental lost in property in 3 above.
The properties which are vacant vary in size and location. Based on the previous rents when they were last occupied, the rent forgone is approximately £11,000 per property. However, we have accounted for this within our budget, and have made a decision to refurbish a number of these properties ahead of offering them on the open market.
Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
