Our ref: FOI-1801-2425
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 02 September 2024 asking for information about taxi ranks.
Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy.
I can confirm that we do hold some of the information you require. You asked:
Could you please provide the measurements of all cab ranks and the number of cabs they are designed to accommodate?
Taxi ranks are vital and help ensure that taxi services can meet passenger demand. We are responsible for appointing taxi ranks on the public highway in all Greater London boroughs, with the exception of the City of London.
Information about all taxi ranks appointed by us, including rest and refreshment ranks, and the number of ranking spaces for each is available online in our London Taxi Ranks Booklet.
However, we do not hold specific measurements for all taxi ranks in London. As previously stated, when designing a taxi rank, a length of 5m per taxi is standard, but the size, layout and design of the taxi rank will depend upon several factors.
If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
Yours sincerely,
Tahsin Prima
