You asked

Dear sir/madam, I am writing to you to request the supporting data for the PowerBI published labelled: TfL Network Demand, Demand by Station Station Type. This PowerBI displays the number of Taps by Station for Entry and Exit by day, dating back to 01/01/2020 up to 16/10/2022. Would you be able to provide this data in Excel format, including all Tube Stations and all days? I work for a small hospitality company, this data would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your request received by us on 24 October 2022 asking for information about entry and exit London Underground passenger data.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.  I can confirm that we hold the information you require. You asked for:

Would you be able to provide this data in Excel format, including all Tube Stations and all days?

The information you asked for covering daily entry and exit data on the London Underground network from 1 January 2020 to 31 December 2021, is available on our website using the following link to the ‘byQuarterEntryExit’ excel spreadsheets here: http://crowding.data.tfl.gov.uk/

In accordance with section 21 of the FOI Act, we are not obliged to supply you with a copy of some of the requested information as it is already accessible to you elsewhere.

However, in accordance with the FOI Act, we are not obliged to supply the entry and exit information you are seeking for 2022 as it is subject to a statutory exemption to the right of access to information, under Section 22 of the Act. In this instance the exemption has been applied as the data you have requested is intended for future publication during Spring 2022 on TfL’s website.

This exemption is subject to a public interest test, which requires us to assess whether the public interest in applying the exemption outweighs the public interest in disclosure. In this instance, it is considered that the public interest favours the publication of this information, in context and according to the pre-determined schedule, rather than in response to your request, to ensure the information is provided accurately and in an accessible manner.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for any reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.
