I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act. I wish to request the following information about lift outages at London Underground stations.
1. The number of lift outages there have been at underground stations that are not step free between November 2020 and November 2021.
2. The longest time a lift outage lasted at one of these stations in the above time period, along with the name of the station and the date.
3. The average time a lift outage lasted in this time period (across all underground stations).
If you do not have the information for this exact time period, please provide the last 12 month long record that you have available. If this would exceed the FOI time/budget stipulation, please provide the last 6 month long record that you have available.

Thank you for your request received on 10 November 2021 asking for information about lift outages at London Underground stations.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm we do hold the information you require.
When a lift is out of service station staff will take the following actions:
• Station staff notify the London Underground Control Centre (LUCC) – they aim to publish the information on the TfL website within five minutes of being notified • Display a poster explaining that the lift is out of service • Tell stations either side • Display the information on the train operators boards • Use general information boards to tell customers of the out of service lift as they might choose to use alternative routes
We will try to reinstate the lift as soon as possible.
You asked for:
1. The number of lift outages there have been at underground stations that are not step free between November 2020 and November 2021
There have been 886 lift outages at stations that are not step free.
2. The longest time a lift outage lasted at one of these stations in the above time period, along with the name of the station and the date
The longest lift outage was 36 days at Belsize Park Station from 2 July 2021.
3. The average time a lift outage lasted in this time period (across all underground stations)
The average lift outage lasted 0.51 days.
