Thank you for your email received on 4 October 2018 asking for information regarding travel mentors.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require. You asked:
Please can you advise on
• the number of adults resident in the London Borough of Lewisham who have accessed the Travel Mentor services in 2017/18? Of those people,
• how many had either a confirmed diagnosis of autism or were in the process of seeking a diagnosis for autism?
During the 2017-18 financial year we received a total of 9 requests for travel mentoring assistance from residents of Lewisham, one of which was not approved due to not meeting the criteria for the scheme. (The criteria is that the applicant must have a reasonable chance of being able to travel independently after a maximum of 10 travel mentoring sessions).
None of the requests were from Lewisham residents with autism.
