Request ID: FOI-1759-2223 Date published: 07 November 2022
You asked
Just two months ago the bus stop located close to Carshalton Beeches Station was completely renovated (on the southbound lane of Park Hill heading towards Beeches Avenue. For all the time it took to renovate the best that can be said of it is that it's comfortable but even so there's no illuminated timetable to advise when a bus is due (as can be found on other bus stops).
How much did this cost? Please advise - albeit I may well have to consider a FoI request.

We can advise that this particular shelter at the location of Carshalton Beeches Station, was upgraded recently costing £9,449.04, which is an average price for this type of shelter.
The Countdown unit in question – the illuminated bus timetable you refer to, was not in place at the original shelter and so was not installed at the new shelter. This is because renewals are generally carried out on a like for like basis. Additionally, Countdown units are expensive addons, which is why they are only considered when the bus stop has multiple routes operating from its location. Currently, this stop accommodates only one bus service.
