Our ref: FOI-1743-2021
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 2 December 2020 asking for information about funding for the Hammersmith Bridge ferry service.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and our Information Access Policy. I can confirm we do hold the information you requested. You asked:
How much budget has TfL allocated for this service please?
TfL has allocated £2m for the Temporary River Crossing at Hammersmith Bridge as part of our Healthy Streets Programme budget. This budget covers up until the end of the 2020/21 financial year – i.e. until 31st March 2021. We have not yet agreed its budget for any future periods with Government, as part of the wider emergency funding support Government is providing to TfL; and so we do not hold any information on what budget has been allocated beyond 31st March 2021. Nonetheless we are absolutely committed to delivering and operating this scheme to provide relief to the local community by enabling cross-river cycling and pedestrian journeys in the short term. Further information on TfL’s Budget will be published on our website when available – see https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/publications-and-reports/business-plan.
If you are considering submitting a further FOI request please think carefully about whether the request is essential at this current time, as answering FOI requests will require the use of limited resources and the attention of staff who could be supporting other essential activity. Where requests are made, please note that our response time may be impacted by the current situation.
