Freedom of Information request - Curtailments on the 261 and 202 bus routes in Lewisham

Request ID: FOI-1729-2021
Date published: 16 December 2020

You asked

Lewisham Council stated the following in their public questions recently: "Before the implementation of the Lee Green Low Traffic Neighbourhood‘s the 261 and 202 buses had an agreed curtailment point (where a bus service is severely disrupted and needs to cut short its intended destination). This involved buses heading towards the Lee Green Sainsburys, turning right into Dorville Road, left onto Cambridge Drive, left on to Eltham Road and then a left on to Burnt Ash Road to start their journey back. The amended curtailment route, in light of the LTN, is for buses to go down Dorville Road, to turn right into Cambridge Drive, then right into Upwood Road then left onto Burnt Ash Road. We are keeping this under review in partnership with TfL buses." Please can you provide me figures for the number of curtailments per month for the 261 and 202 busses from Jan 2019 to Nov 2020?

Our ref: FOI-1729-2021/GH

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 30 November 2020 asking for information about curtailments on the 261 and 202 bus routes in Lewisham.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.

The attached doc shows curtailment summary by reporting period between January 2019 and mid-November 2020.

The data is grouped by route/direction and stoppoint.

Each stoppoint is assigned with number of scheduled and actual buses over the whole period.

The lost trips counts are split into four columns indicating if trips were lost in full, at the beginning, in the middle or at the end (curtailed).

The last few columns show the same data in percentages.

The data may slightly be underestimated as it does not include unscheduled trips.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for some reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

If you are considering submitting a further FOI request please think carefully about whether the request is essential at this current time, as answering FOI requests will require the use of limited resources and the attention of staff who could be supporting other essential activity.
