We answered
TfL Ref: 1729-1819
Thank you for your email received by us on 30 September 2018 asking for information about staff training..
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold information you require. You asked or the following:
Does TfL provide training to any of its employees about awareness of Autism
Whilst no specific training is given to staff in this area by Transport for London (TfL), there are however training courses available to members of the RMT and TSSA Trades Unions, who become Neurodiverse or Equality representatives. Therefore some employees do gain experience in learning about Autism, but the training is not provided or approved by TfL.
and when did this training commence in the company and by whom?
I can advise that there is a trial course taking place this October 2018 to provide awareness of the condition, which has been provided by the National Autistic Society (NAS). After the course is complete, TfL will decide upon its benefit and if it is worth proceeding across the rest of TfL and if it will be provided by either NAS or is tailored to suit TfL’s needs and delivered by us internally, based upon recommendations made by NAS. The training of Union representatives by the Trades Unions has been in place for a number of years
