You asked
How loud (in decibels) are the air conditioning systems on buses when measured from: (a) the loudest point on the bus and (b) when standing just outside the bus (i.e when waiting at a bus stop).
If the noise level varies with the type of bus, please can you give me this information for the number 12 bus.
We answered
TfL Ref: 1725-1819
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 28 September 2018 asking for information about the noise level of air conditioning units on buses / bus route 12.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) and our information access policy.
Unfortunately we do not hold the information you have requested as we don’t measure air cooling system noise on buses and therefore we do not record information on this.
I’m sorry that we are not able to assist further in this matter. You can contact our customer services at https://tfl.gov.uk/help-and-contact/ or by calling 0343 222 1234 if you wish to report a specific issue with one of our buses.
Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
Yours sincerely
