Hi,
Please can you tell me if Transport for London has used any type of facial recognition technology at any time over the past five years.
If so, please can you tell me how much was spent on the technology, who provided it, how long it was used for and whether it is currently being used, and in which locations it was used.
Please can you also tell me whether TfL is considering the use of facial recognition technology in the future.

Thank you for your request of 6th September 2019 asking for information about the use of facial recognition technology on the TfL network
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.
Specifically you asked:
“Please can you tell me if Transport for London has used any type of facial recognition technology at any time over the past five years.
If so, please can you tell me how much was spent on the technology, who provided it, how long it was used for and whether it is currently being used, and in which locations it was used.

TfL has not used facial recognition technology in the past nor do we use it at present, and there are no current plans to do so.
