Thank you for your email received by Transport for London (TfL) on 26 September 2018.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm we do hold the information you require. You asked:

The number of journeys made on each Night Tube & Night Overground service since inception, split by recording year.

Night Tube was launched on 19 August 2016 on the Central and Victoria lines. Services on the Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly lines followed by the end of 2016. By August 2017, there had been 7.8million journeys using Night Tube. Between August 2017 and August 2018, there had been 8.7million journeys on Night Tube.

London Overground night services launched on 15 December 2017 between New Cross Gate and Dalston Junction. On 23 February, the service was extended from Dalston Junction to Highbury & Islington. By 31 August, there had been 286,000 journeys using the service.

The revenues of Night Tube by recording year since inception

Night Tube revenue is included as part of our wider Tube revenue. We do not separate the services we offer on the Tube so there is no split revenue for Night Tube. Last year the Tube network generated £2.668bn in revenue.

The profit/loss of Night Tube since inception by reporting year

Night Tube revenue is included as part of our wider Tube revenue. We do not separate the services we offer on the Tube so there is no split revenue for Night Tube. Last year the Tube generated a direct operating surplus of £532m.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
