Request ID: FOI-1710-2223 Date published: 07 November 2022
You asked
Dear sir under freedom of information act another question Qu 1How many deaths recorded by imperial college were from self harm ie smoking .
Qu 2 The population of Greater London is 9.5 million and 4000 deaths you suggested in you consultation is smaller than drug related deaths of 4859 . Alchohol deaths are 7.9 to 9.9 percentage of population . Why was pollution and congestion being regretfully at even 4000 deaths considered more important that drug deaths or alcoholism or death by stabbing ? Was it because income is easier to achieve from the drivers who are a soft target ?

TfL Ref: FOI-1710-2223
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 13th October 2022 asking for information about comparative deaths in Greater London.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.
Specifically you asked:
“Qu 1How many deaths recorded by imperial college were from self harm ie smoking.
Was it because income is easier to achieve from the drivers who are a soft target ?”
In answer to question 1, TfL does not hold a breakdown of the number of deaths that may have been contributed to by other factors such as smoking.
Question 2 does not constitute a request for recorded information under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act. That said, note that the Mayor has a duty to achieve the legal limits for air pollutants in Greater London. Air pollution has a negative impact on the health of Londoners and a disproportionate impact on more vulnerable and deprived people. For further detail please see the following document which formed part of the consultation materials, “Our proposals to help improve air quality, tackle the climate emergency, and reduce congestion by expanding the ULEZ London-wide and other measures” - and in particular Chapter 6: https://haveyoursay.tfl.gov.uk/15619/widgets/44946/documents/27070
