We answered

TfL Ref 1705-2021

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 26 November 2020 asking for information about the Bakerloo line extension (BLE) costs.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require.

You asked for:

Total amount spent by TfL on the development of the Bakerloo Line Extension

Year by year breakdown of spend relating to the Bakerloo Line Extension

Breakdown of payments to contractors/ consultants/ architects/ engineers/ construction companies

The Bakerloo line extension will benefit the local area by providing much needed connectivity, providing alternative travel options and reducing journey times to central London and beyond. It will also help deliver at least 5,000 new jobs and around 25,000 new homes when built, and the construction phase will also generate jobs.

Attached is a summary of the information you have requested. Please note the following points when reviewing the information:

Prior to 2017, work was carried out for the scheme under general call-off contracts. We are therefore not able to provide the BLE specific spend from the wider spend.

We do not hold staff costs specifically in relation to this project as many employees will have worked on this alongside other tasks and so it is not possible to directly quantify this.

If you are considering submitting a further FOI request please think carefully about whether the request is essential at this current time, as answering FOI requests will require the use of limited resources and the attention of staff who could be supporting other essential activity. Where requests are made, please note that our response time may be impacted by the current situation.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for any reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.

Yours sincerely
