Allowing motorcycles in red route bus lanes provides consistency for riders, avoiding confusion and unnecessary risk. It presents no significant safety issues for other vulnerable road users.
I think this is an excellent policy as being separate from traffic is much safer for myself as a moped (electric) driver.
Can I please have a copy of the analysis supporting the policy as some people argue against it and I would like the benefit of the work you have already performed.

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 14 October 2022 asking for information about mopeds in bus lanes.
Powered 2 Wheelers (P2Ws which includes all mopeds, scooters and motorcycles) were initially allowed access to Transport for London Road Network (TLRN) bus lanes on a trial basis in 2009. This arrangement was made permanent in January 2012.
Please see the following links to the report and its appendices as requested. I have also attached them as PDFs for ease. On the basis of this report, the policy was changed to allow P2Ws to use most bus lanes on the TLRN. This follows an earlier, smaller scale study, the results of which are briefly summarised in the report.
