Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 14 October 2022 asking for information about the administration costs for the TfL staff / nominee travel scheme. Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require. You asked: Can you confirm the costs to administer and manage the TFL staff and nominee free travel, PA and if it is classed as tax deductible.
We do not hold all the cost information you have requested. This is because we are unable to separate out the staff costs for the administration of Staff Passes / Nominee Passes as the activity sits within a team with shared responsibilities and covers other areas such as Human Resources (HR) Shared Service activity including onboarding, offboarding, (staff joining and departing), maternity cases, payroll case activity and other HR employee lifecycle requests for our employees.
We can confirm however that the total cost associated with printing the staff pass and nominee passes is around £30k per annum but this varies depending on the amount of passes printed each year. The Staff Pass and Nominee Pass are not tax deductible.
