You asked
Follow-on from FOI-1424-2425:
What are the periodically created/updated spreadsheet documents, that contain a table with the most comprehensive data about fire incidents involving TfL?
Can I please be sent versions containing post January 1st, 2022, incidents with only the columns/rows containing confidential information deleted?
I.e. if any column/row possibly contains confidential information, please delete it without further investigation and provide the remaining data, to prevent the request exceeding the ‘appropriate limit’.

Our Ref: FOI-1682-2425 Thank you for your request received on 22 August 2024 asking for further information about fire incidents. Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Environmental Information Regulations and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold some of the information you require. What are the periodically created/updated spreadsheet documents, that contain a table with the most comprehensive data about fire incidents involving TfL?
The safety of customers, and staff, remains TfL’s top priority. We protect our customers safety by ensuring that our trains and infrastructure are designed and managed to the latest safety standards (including for fire safety). The table listed below outlines the relevant fire incident data produced by London Underground (LU) on a periodic basis. This is produced as part of TfL’s internal reporting arrangements. It is important to note that recorded fire incidents encompass wide range of ‘fire’ issues including where smoke (but no fire) generated in the track area to small fires that may have required intervention from LFB. Also, there are a number of “n/a’s” contained within the table because TfL were unable to obtain data the time of reporting. All fire incidents are recorded on TfL’s incident reporting system and reviewed at a periodic fire risk management meeting. At this meeting fluctuations in recorded incidents are also explored, seeking to understand the underlying cause for the fire incidents – which could include usual periods of hot and dry weather. TfL’s Engineering Assurance team also review track fires separately to ensure the number of incidents reported are at a tolerable level. TfL continue to focus on fire risk within LU and strive to continually improve on the current mitigations in place.
