FOI request detail

Santander Cycle docking stations information

Request ID: FOI-1677-1819
Date published: 18 October 2018

You asked

This is a freedom of information request. Please can you release a dataset of information - as a CSV or spreadsheet - of data relating to Santander cycle hire docking stations, and the number of departures and arrivals from each one, covering the last full year (whether calendar year or, for example, August 2017-July 2018 etc). For example, for each docking station entry I would like the following information: Docking Station ID | Docking Station Name | Docking Station Latitude | Docking Station Longitude | Number of bikes departing | Number of bikes arriving So, for example, if a docking station on Bow Road, the data would contain the unique TfL ID number of that docking station, the name of the docking station, its latitude, longitude, the number of journeys started from that docking station, the number of journeys ended at that docking station. I have checked the TfL London Datastore, and though it contains some docking station stats, it does not appear to split this data out into departures and arrivals. I hope this is clear and makes the data easy to retrieve, as presumably this information can be obtained with a relatively simple database query. Under the terms of the act, I understand you have 20 days to respond. Which by my calculation would make it due by 22nd October 2018. Please can you acknowledge this response.

We answered

TfL Ref: 1677-1819

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 24 September 2018 asking for information about our cycle hire scheme.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require.

Please find attached the information you requested.

Please note that this covers the financial year  April 2017-March 2018.

There are two docking stations listed with no hires which is due to the fact that the stations were suspended during construction works in the area.

Low hire sites are kept under review to understand what actions we can take to increase usage or whether to move the sites to an area where better usage could be achieved.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for any reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.

Yours sincerely

Sara Thomas
