Dear

TfL Ref: FOI-1611-1819

Thank you for your email received by Transport for London (TfL) on 15 September 2018.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act and TfL’s information access policy.  I can confirm TfL does hold the information you require. You asked:

For the 2018 recruitment cycle; only candidates with Level 2 and 3 qualifications were eligible to apply for all our level 3 apprenticeship schemes, those with level 4 qualifications and degrees could not apply.

Highest Level Qualification:

Level 2: 50 per cent

Level 3: 50 per cent

We do hold information about the ethnicity, gender and age of the candidates in question. However, because of the small number of people in certain categories (some categories break down to one person only), we have taken the decision to withhold this information to avoid it being linked to a specific individual.

Therefore we are withholding the requested information under Section 40 of the Freedom of Information Act. The exemption has been applied as disclosure of this personal information you have requested could be a breach of the Data Protection legislation specifically the first principle of the legislation which requires all processing of personal data to be fair and lawful. It would not be fair to disclose this personal information when the individuals have no expectation it would be disclosed and TfL has not satisfied one of the conditions which would make the processing ‘fair’.

This exemption to the right of access to information is an absolute exemption and not subject to an assessment of whether the public interest favours use of the exemption.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.

Yours sincerely
