Thank you for your request received by us on 10 and 12 November 2020 asking for information about the costs of upgrading Cycle Superhighways 7 on the A24 in the London Borough of Wandsworth, as part of Transport for London’s Streetscape scheme

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Environmental Information Regulations and our information access policy.  I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require. In your initial email you asked for the following information:

During the summer TfL/Streetspace altered a number of bus stops on the A24 in the borough of Wandsworth. I haven’t counted them but there are probably about 6 and are in locations like Balham and Upper Tooting Park. TfL also introduced numerous ‘wands’ along the A24 in the borough of Wandsworth along with associated road markings.

All I want, please, are the capital costs of providing these measures and the staff costs associated with designing and introducing them, ie 2 simple figures. As I said earlier we live in strange times, and many of us are busy, so estimates will suffice rather than absolutely accurate figures.

Following my acknowledgement, you requested:

capital and revenue figures for the expenditure made either directly by TfL, or on behalf of TfL, on the reconfigured bus stops, the ‘wands’ and any other measures to inhibit vehicles and encourage cycling on the A24 in the borough of Wandsworth since, say, March 2020 to, say, the end of November 2020.

We can advise that the capital cost for TfL’s contractor to design and deliver the Streetspace scheme along the A24 in Wandsworth is approximately £650,000. Please note that this is an estimate as invoices and estimates for some work goes beyond the borough boundary.

Our staff work across multiple Streetspace projects as part of their roles and their time is not recorded in a way where it can be scrutinised and broken down by a specific project, therefore the cost of TfL staff time is not held in a format that would specifically answer your request.
