Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 15 August 2024 asking for information about electric buses.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. 

I can confirm that we do not hold information you require. You asked:

Please confirm the frequency of mechanical breakdown for the new fully electric bus fleet per mile (or whichever relative statistic you have) for the most recent period available, and provide the equivalent figure for non-fully electric fleet.

The standard reports are not able to produce this data as fuel type is not a recorded category in the LRD database. Additionally, where we have developed a Power BI report which links LRD data to bus fuel type, this only shows observed mileage based on iBus mileage validation. It cannot be used to calculate mechanical lost mileage by fuel type.

Alternatively or additionally please provide the number of times a bus route service has been curtailed early due to mechanical issues

We report service volume loss by lost mileage category in percentage terms, not by curtailment count.
