Please can you tell me: 1. The number of reported lost items of jewellery on TFL’s network broken down by year (2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022) and by the mode of transport it was found (underground, overground, bus, and boat). 2. The number of lost item claims received between the years 2018-2022. 3. The number of incidents where a lost piece of jewellery has been retrieved and collected by the owner in the years between 2018-2022.

Thank you for your request received on 5 October 2022 asking for information about lost property items found on our network.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm we do hold the information you require. You asked for:

1.         The number of reported lost items of jewellery on TFL’s network broken down by year (2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022) and by the mode of transport it was found (underground, overground, bus, and boat).
3.         The number of incidents where a lost piece of jewellery has been retrieved and collected by the owner in the years between 2018-2022.

In accordance with section 21 of the FOI Act, we are not obliged to supply you with a copy of the requested information as it is already accessible to you elsewhere.

The published information is for 2018/19 to 2020/21. Please find the information for earlier years attached.

We are not obliged to supply the information you have requested for 2021/22 as it is subject to a statutory exemption to the right of access to information, under Section 22 of the Act.

In this instance the exemption has been applied as the information you have requested is intended for future publication. We expect it to be published before the end of the calendar year and will be available at the link above.

This exemption is subject to a public interest test, which requires us to assess whether the public interest in applying the exemption outweighs the public interest in disclosure. In this instance, it is considered that the public interest favours the publication of this information, in context and according to the pre-determined schedule, rather than in response to your request, to ensure the information is provided accurately and in an accessible manner.

2.         The number of lost item claims received between the years 2018-2022. We’re looking for the number of all enquiries made, regardless of whether they were matched with an item or not.
