Elizabeth line Punctuality statistics by train and by passenger

Request ID: FOI-1586-2425
Date published: 09 September 2024

You asked

Dear Transport for London, This is an FOI request for the following: - % of Elizabeth line trains that depart on time. - % of Elizabeth line trains that depart at least 1 minute later than timetabled. - % of Elizabeth line trains that depart at least 5 minutes later than timetabled. - % of Elizabeth line trains that depart at least 10 minutes later than timetabled. - % of Elizabeth line trains that depart at least 20 minutes later than timetabled. - % of Elizabeth line trains that are cancelled. - % of Elizabeth line trains that do not fully complete their timetabled journey, i.e. terminate at a station other than that specified in the timetable. - % of Elizabeth line trains that do not stop at all stations specified in the timetable. - % of Elizabeth line passenger journeys that depart on time. - % of Elizabeth line passenger journeys that depart at least 1 minute later than timetabled. - % of Elizabeth line passenger journeys that depart at least 5 minutes later than timetabled. - % of Elizabeth line passenger journeys that depart at least 10 minutes later than timetabled. - % of Elizabeth line passenger journeys that depart at least 20 minutes later than timetabled. - % of Elizabeth line passenger journeys that are cancelled. - % of Elizabeth line passenger journeys that do not fully complete their timetabled journey, i.e. terminate at a station other than that specified in the timetable. - % of Elizabeth line passenger journeys that do not stop at all stations specified in the timetable. I require the above information in excel format, separated by day starting from the date of the first fare paying passenger journey after the line opened. Any reference to timetables above refers to the published timetable in force at the time the journey took place. Passenger journeys means each individual journey taken by a passenger. Understanding that the way in which journeys are recorded does not allow for full visibility of every passengers journey, I will allow for average passenger numbers per train to be used in the calculation, accurate to every 30 minutes (or less if held). Separate to the above request, I request the raw data necessary to calculate the above in its entirety, also in excel format (this is in addition and separate to the above request, and is not to be considered an alternative).

Please find attached the data requested on Elizabeth line train departures. Please expand the column widths to see the data where necessary. The data is from 24 May 2022 onwards as requested.

With regard to the remainder of your request, we do not hold the data you have requested on passenger journeys, however MTREL provide passenger loading data to the Rail Delivery Group’s Rail Data Marketplace which is available for public consumption: Class 345 FLU Load Weight Measurements - Rail Data Marketplace

In order to access this, you will need to sign up for an account. The data is broken down by financial periods for the last financial year - but there is no accurate data set before this time. This data can be analysed and combined with the data shared around train punctuality to establish the requested metrics.
