We answered

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.  I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require. You asked:

can you please tell us what a fire alert means when tubes are delayed or cancelled?

what counts as a fire alert?

what counts as a fire alert outside of TfL control? what counts as a fire alert inside of TfL control?

A fire alert could result in a station being closed which would result in a non-stopping service or a complete service suspension, depending on the location of the fire, causing delays or cancellations.

The simplest is activation of a stations (or trains) fire detection and alarm system.

This could be activation of a fire alarm in an adjoining station / premises for example a Network Rail station.

Malicious activations of call points can lead to a station being evacuated, which is treated as an activation of the fire system until it is confirmed as malicious.

what does code 7 mean on TfL over the speaker?

Code 7 means ‘Report to operations room.

how many teams enforce the no vaping and no drinking rule on London underground?

Smoking/vaping and consumption of alcohol on our network is a criminal offence, staff may ask the offender(s) to stop and leave and the Police will be called where the situation becomes volatile. This is answered in more detail in the following published FOI response here: https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/transparency/freedom-of-information/foi-request-detail?referenceId=FOI-1087-2425
