FOI request detail

Weekend closures on the Windrush line

Request ID: FOI-1549-2425
Date published: 29 August 2024

You asked

Why are there so many weekend closures on the Windrush Line? Nearly every other week there is at least one day if not both days of the weekend the line is closed. This does not happen with such frequency on any other Underground, National Rail or other Overground lines, why does it happen on this one so often considering it's only 14 years old?

We answered

Our ref: FOI-1549-2425

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 12 August 2024 asking for information about closures on the Windrush line.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy.

I can confirm that we do hold the information you require. The main reason for the recent core closures on the Windrush line is due to the current ongoing Surrey Quays station redevelopment work. Previously, line closures were due to Crossrail works at Whitechapel station.

If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely,
