You asked
I would appreciate it if you could provide me with a short answer detailing the eventual roll out and installation of Dedicated Short Range Communications (DSRC) systems throughout London. If possible, could you please provide the expected start date and how many DSRC road units there will eventually be in London.
We answered
TfL Ref: 1541-1718
Thank you for your email received by us on 19 September 2017 asking for information about Dedicated Short Range Communications (DSRC) units.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require. You asked for the current number of DSRC road units currently in operation in the Greater London area.
In bus operations, we have not used DSRCs since 2012 when we introduced of our new generation Countdown signs. Additionally, we do not currently have any DSRC units in operation in our road user charging or assets divisions, so we believe that this is a nil return.
I am sorry that I cannot be of any further assistance in this matter.
If this is not the information you are looking for, do not hesitate to contact me.
Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.
Yours sincerely
