You asked
During the consultation process for Cycle Superhighway 1, several possible works to Balls Pond Road were proposed to make it easier for cyclists to cross. Thus far no such works have appeared.
Please provide details of the current status of plans for this area, and any timescales for when they might be constructed.
If no such works are planned, please provide copies of any relevant correspondence cancelling the works.

Thank you for your request received on 19 September 2017 asking for information about the Cycle Superhighway 1 works at Balls Pond Road.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Environmental Information Regulations and our information access policy. I can confirm we do hold the information you require. You asked for:
In autumn 2015 TfL and Hackney Council publically consulted on proposals for a series of modal filter schemes in the De Beauvoir area. Owing to concerns from local businesses and residents relating to changes in traffic movement in and around De Beauvoir, the Council elected to implement the closures on a six month trial basis and to monitor the filters’ effect at the end of the trial period. The decision on which option to implement at Balls Pond Road was dependent on whether the modal filters resulted in changes to traffic movement in De Beauvoir, and whether the filters were then made permanent. Now that they have been made permanent, we will agree a way forward for the improvements with Hackney and Islington Councils, who plan implement the improvements in 2018.
