FOI request detail

Revenue of buses for past five years in Leyton and Walthamstow

Request ID: FOI-1528-1819
Date published: 17 January 2019

You asked

I am a resident of Leyton London E10 and am looking to find out the annual revenues for the buses which serve this part of London. Namely the following routes 48 55 56 58 69 97 158 The past five years by route would suit my requirements. If you are able to show a break down by method paid ie. Cash/ Oyster pay as you go/ Oyster season then that would be good, although I am aware that cash is not currently accepted it was taken within the five years I am requesting. Also numbers by freedom and children passes used although I acknowledge there is no cost associated in these. Plus the passengers who swipe in and are not changed as the hopper fare applies.

Thank you for your  request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 5 September 2018 asking for information about buses.

Your request has been processed in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm we do hold the information you requested. You asked:

The past five years by route would suit my requirements.

Attached is the revenue/journeys data you requested for bus routes in the Leyton area over the last five years.

It is split into two parts as the data was obtained from two different sources, one up to the end of 2015 and the other since then. There is more detail in the data from 2016. Note that the revenue data shown is estimated as it is difficult to be too precise when allocating to individual bus routes. We do not have data on the split for Hopper journeys. The Freedom Pass costs have been calculated using annual settlement figures paid by the London boroughs to TfL for accepting their passes after 0900hrs.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely,

Melissa Nichols
