Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 20 August 2019 asking for information about the number of Piaggio MP3 motor tricycles which have been granted a 100% discount from the Congestion Charge.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require. You asked: How many Piaggio MP3 motor tricycles have been granted a 100% discount from the Congestion Charge.
We have assumed you’re referring to the Motor Tricycle Discount, which is a 100% discount from the Congestion Charge for eligible vehicles registered with us. The regulations that govern the Congestion Charging scheme define the eligibility criteria for the Motor Tricycle Discount. The discount is not available to owners of the Piaggio MP3 because its length exceeds the maximum acceptable length specified in the regulations. With this in mind, there are zero Piaggio MP3s registered with us to receive the Motor Tricycle Discount.
The only other 100% Congestion Charge discount that may apply to this specific vehicle is the Blue Badge Discount. If an individual holds a valid Blue Badge in the European Economic Area, they’re eligible to register with us to receive a 100% discount. Any two vehicles can be registered per discount, however, there is no requirement for us to record the make and model of the vehicle, only the vehicle’s registration mark; consequently we do not hold the requested information in respect of the Blue Badge Discount.
