The Crossrail Integration Facility enables signalling software and data from the various suppliers to be integrated together, and tested prior to, or at the same time as being implemented onto the railway.

The outcome of testing conducted at the Crossrail Integration Facility provides a level of confidence of the functionality and behaviour of the software and provides the opportunity to undertake preliminary investigations where the integrated functionality or behaviour differs from expectation.

Tests which pass provide a high level of confidence that the software and data will behave and perform as expected during tests on the railway.

Tests which do not pass are subject to investigation, and causes can be for a large variety of reasons from errors in Test Books through to immature software and data.

Partial Passes are classified as where the primary function under test was successful, but an ancillary element did not pass.

The 106 tests referred to in Crossrail’s August update to the London Assembly Transport Committee represent a sub-set of the total signalling tests which will be conducted on the railway and at its boundaries. These are contained within a suite of test books, with the Crossrail Integration Facility assessed confidence results in the table below.

Tests classified as ‘Other’ in the table attached are those where the results in the Crossrail Integration Facility need to be considered in conjunction with the test results obtained on the railway.
