Farringdon Street/Road/Charterhouse Street

Request ID: FOI-1516-2425
Date published: 28 August 2024

You asked

The accident occurred at the junction of Farringdon Road and Charterhouse Street. We are instructed our Client was proceeding down Farringdon Road. The third party was oncoming in the opposite direction (from Farringdon Street) and turned right across his path into Charterhouse Street, at a junction marked ‘no right turn.’ We understand on the date in question there were road closures in place prior to the accident and possible diversions. Please can you confirm what closures were in place, whether these applied to cars/buses and cyclists/pedestrians etc and what diversions/alternative routes were in place.

We answered

TfL Ref: FOI-1516-2425

Thank you for your request which we received on 9 August 2024, asking for information about a road closure at the junction of Farringdon Road and Charterhouse Street on 17 November 2023.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.  I can confirm that we hold the information you require.

The only works we identified at this location was the Museum of London S278 works. Please find the attached map and the works extract for more information.

This junction does not permit a Farringdon Street northbound right turn into Charterhouse Street eastbound. We are not aware of any other temporary arrangements in place on 17 November 2023 that would permit this manoeuvre.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.

Yours sincerely
