FOI request detail

Crossrail2

Request ID: FOI-1503-2021
Date published: 24 November 2020

You asked

I would like to request the following information that Transport for London holds or may hold. Please respond to this address. • The costs associated with the termination of the Crossrail 2 project. This could include, for example, the cost of early termination of contracts with external consultants or charges for disposal of materials. If gathering this information would trigger the 'appropriate limit' exemption, please disregard it. • The number of staff hired by TfL to work specifically on Crossrail 2 who will no longer be required to work on the project. • Of those staff, the number that have been moved on to other TfL projects, and the number that have been made redundant.

Our Ref:         FOI-1503-2021

Thank you for your request received on 2 November 2020 asking for information about Crossrail2.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm we hold some of the information you require. You asked for:

The costs associated with the termination of the Crossrail 2 project. This could include, for example, the cost of early termination of contracts with external consultants or charges for disposal of materials. If gathering this information would trigger the 'appropriate limit' exemption, please disregard it.

We do not hold this information with regard to disposal of materials as we are not able to extract this detail from the contract totals as a whole. All the major Crossrail 2 consultancy contracts are cost reimbursable and include the option for Transport for London (TfL) to terminate at short notice. TfL is therefore able to minimise, and in most cases completely mitigate, costs associated with the termination contracts.

The number of staff hired by TfL to work specifically on Crossrail 2 who will no longer be required to work on the project. Of those staff, the number that have been moved on to other TfL projects, and the number that have been made redundant.

Transport for London (TfL) operates a matrix management structure which, as is the case for the Crossrail 2 project, assigns specialists from TfL’s business areas to work on one (or more) projects in interdisciplinary team(s). This allows TfL to manage its staff resources as necessary and staff are assigned to work on projects as required; for example TfL have drawn on staff from across the wider TfL business to support the consultation events.

If this is not the information you are looking for please feel free to contact me.

If you are considering submitting a further FOI request please think carefully about whether the request is essential at this current time, as answering FOI requests will require the use of limited resources and the attention of staff who could be supporting other essential activity. Where requests are made, please note that our response time may be impacted by the current situation.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely
