Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 16 August 2019 asking for information about Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs).
Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.
1. For the calendar year 2018 please state how many Penalty Charge Notices have been issued because of box junction contraventions?
Between 1 January and 31 December 2018, we issued 133,581 PCNs to drivers whose vehicles were observed stopped in yellow boxes on our network.
2. What has been the cost of a PCN for this type of offence in 2018?
Our PCNs are payable at £130, reduced to £65 if paid within 14 days.
3. For 2018 which five sites have been responsible for the most PCNs? Please give a description of where the junction is and how many PCNs were issued for that site.
The below table details the top five locations responsible for most PCNs issued and how many were issued.
