Cycleway 2 assessment

Request ID: FOI-1481-2122
Date published: 29 October 2021

You asked

F/O to 1318-2122 Thank you for sharing the Cycleways Assessment Form for CS2. However, it's not exactly what I was looking for, although it is helpful. The spreadsheet I was expecting to see was the "New Cycle Route Quality Criteria tool", available here: https://tfl.gov.uk/cdn/static/cms/documents/cycle-route-quality-criteria-spreadsheet-tool-v1.xlsx This is considerably larger and more rigorous than the one that was provided (the "Cycleway Assessment form". Please tell me whether TfL has assessed CS2 at all using the New Cycle Route Quality Criteria tool (the spreadsheet I've linked above). If so, please share it with me. If not, I would like to know why - given this seems to be in contradiction to the Cycleways Signing Guidance.

We answered

TfL Ref: 1481-2122

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 14 October 2021 asking for information about the Assessment of Cycle Superhighway 2 under New Cycle Route Quality Criteria.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.

We do not hold the information you have requested as the template form you refer to in your request was used for those routes that were to be re-branded to assure that all cycleways met the quality criteria. This assessment was also used for new routes. It was determined that undertaking a full assessment on an existing largely-segregated route such as the one you have asked about was not the best approach.

The form that we sent as part of our previous response did highlight issues which were subsequently presented to the cycling programme board to document.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely
