Bus drivers at Uxbridge station

Request ID: FOI-1477-1718
Date published: 12 October 2017

You asked

I’m sorry that you’ve been caused concern by the actions of bus drivers at Uxbridge station and appreciate that something needs to be done to address this. I have therefore spoken with the Garage Risk Manager and our Bus Station Manager about this issue. I've been informed that although congestion can occur at this location, we already have appropriate procedures in place for keeping customers safe. For example, the 222 service has a designated stand opposite Stop M where drivers should complete their bus checks. When the driver is ready to begin their route, they should check if Stop M is already congested with other buses. If so, the driver should wait in the designated stand until the stop becomes available. Likewise, the driver of the A10 should have waited for the driver of the 222 to pull away or made it clear that they need them to move on, before pulling in to serve the stop. London United, the operator for our 222 route, have been informed of the specific incident you've made us aware of. They will identify and speak to the driver about this. To address the wider issue, our Bus Station Manager will issue a suitable reminder to the operators that serve this location, and they will communicate this to their drivers.

Unfortunately we do not hold the requested information. The driver behaviour was highlighted to the operator, London United, at the time of your complaint. The reminders issued to the bus operator were done so by telephone conversations with iBus controllers and the Service Delivery Manager. We do not hold recordings of these conversations. Please note that reminders to bus drivers are the responsibility of the bus operator so any recorded information would be held by the operators.

Please accept our apologies that we are unable to assist you further on this occasion.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely
