Good afternoon,
I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to request the following information.
I am after information relating to Transport for London and road damage compensation. Under Government guidelines, motorists and road users can claim compensation from local authorities and road network authorities for vehicle damage caused by poor road conditions such as potholes.
In particular, are you able to provide me with:
1) The number of compensation claims made to Transport for London for vehicle damage caused by poor road conditions (e.g. potholes)
Could you please provide answers to Question 1) for the following calendar years

2021 – up to the latest month available
2) The number of compensation claims made to Transport for London for vehicle damage caused by poor road conditions (e.g. potholes) where compensation was paid out

It is worth noting that we employ the services of a number of highway contractors to maintain our road network - if a claim is investigated and found to be a result of the failings under contract by the highway contractor firm, the claim is passed to the contractor to handle. We do not hold information on the outcome of any such claims, and these are therefore not included in the tables above.
