57 and 213 bus service reduction

You asked

Please specify the actual service reduction of these two routes in the last twelve months, defined as the actual number of buses per hour from Kingston to Clapham Park before and after the cuts. Please specify changes to other routes which service Norbiton/Coombe Lane/New Malden' to compensate for the loss of service. Please report the number of times in the last six months that the number 57 bus towards Kingston terminated prematurely at Holland Avenue stop, off-loading all passengers at 'Coombe Lane', the fly-over of the A3 in Raynes Park. The date of each occurrence, or cluster of terminations is required.

Thank you for your request which we received on 5 August 2023, asking for information about routes 57 and 213.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.  I can confirm that we hold the information you require. You asked:

Please specify the actual service reduction of these two routes in the last twelve months, defined as the actual number of buses per hour from Kingston to Clapham Park before and after the cuts.

Both routes were reduced from 6 buses per hour to 5 buses per hour. The changes were made because the capacity was not required.

Some additional school journeys were also withdrawn, these were:
 
  • Route 57 - one AM school journey towards Kingston (from two) and the PM journey from Ursuline School (Raynes Park) to Clapham Park.
  • Route 231 - the PM school journey from New Malden to North Cheam. One PM journey left now from New Malden to Kingston

Please specify changes to other routes which service Norbiton/Coombe Lane/New Malden' to compensate for the loss of service.

There were no changes to other routes to compensate for the loss of service.

Please report the number of times in the last six months that the number 57 bus towards Kingston terminated prematurely at Holland Avenue stop, off-loading all passengers at 'Coombe Lane', the fly-over of the A3 in Raynes Park.

Please find attached route 57 trip data towards Kingston, over the last six months.

Stop departure times indicate that buses ran in service. Any trip segments not recorded by iBus are either marked with reasons for ‘Loss’ or as ‘Operated’.

Trips that got curtailed along Coombe Lane are shown with departure times before Coombe Lane bus stops and “no times” after those stops.

Number of trips marked ‘unscheduled’, are trips that normally cover up ‘lost’ trips.
