Earlier this year, your highways team completed extensive road widening works on Kew Bridge, Richmond. Please can you provide the following information.
1) An explanation of the reasons why the road widening works were commissioned. For example, was the intention to help speed up traffic flow over the bridge?
2) How much it cost for the works to be carried out.
3) Any evidence to support whether the work has achieved its aim.

TfL Ref: FOI-1465-2122 Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 13th October 2021 asking for information about road works on Kew Bridge. Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. Specifically you asked: “Earlier this year, your highways team completed extensive road widening works on Kew Bridge, Richmond. Please can you provide the following information. 1) An explanation of the reasons why the road widening works were commissioned. For example, was the intention to help speed up traffic flow over the bridge? 2) How much it cost for the works to be carried out. 3) Any evidence to support whether the work has achieved its aim.” The works carried out on Kew Bridge recently relate to the Cycleway 9 - Chiswick High Road scheme. We do not hold a record of the cost of the Kew Bridge element alone as the contractor charges a cost for the whole package. Please note these are construction costs only and do not include design works.
