You asked
I’d like to know a bit more about how often the buses are cleaned- particularly the vacuuming and cleaning hand poles. If you could provide an insight of that, it would be highly appreciated.
We answered
Our ref: FOI-1458-2223/GH
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 17 September 2022 asking for information about the cleaning routine of buses.
Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold some of the information you require.
TfL’s enhanced cleaning measures remain on buses.
We are continuing to fund the use of 2 Antiviral agents (Guardicide and Zoono), which remain in use as part of enhanced cleaning measures on buses. Guardicide is applied prior to the application of Zoono on customer areas, including all poles and handles touched by customers travelling on the network every 21-28 days.
Discussions are continuing on enhanced cleaning measures for drivers cab areas, which will be funded by Bus Operators, as part of Driver welfare facilities. Vacuuming - The exact details of cleaning measures adopted by individual operators is not information that we would be privy to. Each Bus Operator would have its own individual regimes.
