We answered
Our ref: FOI-1442-1819/GH
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 27 August 2018 asking for information about the lights on the footbridge over Blackwall Tunnel approach.
Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.
- How many enquiries/complaints have been made about this –
We have no record of receiving any customer enquiries regarding lighting on a footbridge since July 2017. While our TfL Customer Services team is able to track enquiries relating to Blackwall Tunnel, there is no mechanism in place to track specifics such as lighting on a footbridge.
- How many lights you maintain over the bridge and approach footpaths -
With regard to the Arch Footbridge Gantry, TfL is responsible for maintaining six lighting columns but currently only three can be maintained with access from B&Q car park. Also, there are six 4ft twin fluorescent fittings on the footbridge itself, which are all working now.
- How many lights are currently broken –
There are three lighting columns which our contractors are unable to access and we will be looking into proposals of how to deal with them.
- When they all were last inspected –
The lighting was inspected following receipt of this FOI request. Our contractor carries out fortnightly night time scouts of our street lighting which includes footbridge lighting. We have been unable to retrieve the inspection records for this footbridge from our Contractor and are investigating this further.
- Any decisions or rationale as to why they have not been fixed yet –
All have been fixed except three which our contractor has been unable to access. Access is being investigated.
- The standard response time it should take for faulty lights to be fixed.
Standard response time is 28 days unless safety critical, in which a make safe response time of 24 hours is standard.
