TfL Ref: FOI-1413-1718

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 8 September 2017 asking for information about bus services and bus stops.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our Information Access Policy. You asked for:

  1. Passenger data on bus stop usage for each stop served by the 289 bus service and the 455 bus service for the most recent 12 month period available prior to 1 September 2017. Please provide this information separately for each of these two bus services and only provide the bus stop usage for these two specific services;

    Please see boarding data attached. Also attached are an explanation of the ‘daykey’ and ‘stopcode’ used to identify the date and bus stop which the data refers to. This covers the period 1st August 2016 to 31st July 2017. The data looks at boarding at each stop (recorded as the number of ‘taps’), and it is unscaled - it only has people who use Oyster or contactless, it doesn't account for people who use paper tickets.  At the network level this accounts for 92% of users.

  2. The Equality Impact Assessment, or any other relevant equalities assessment or considerations, undertaken by TfL as part of its decision to close the bus stops on Drury Crescent and Trafalgar Way in Croydon on 2 September 2017 which, prior to this date, had been served by the 289 and 455 buses;

    We do not undertake equality impact assessments for bus route changes, we look at the change in walking distances to ensure people are still within 400 metres of the stops.

  3. The number of complaints or objections received by TfL, including to TfL board members, since 28 July 2017 in respect of TfL’s decision to close the bus stops on Drury Crescent and Trafalgar Way in Croydon which, prior to 2 September 2017, were served by 289 and 455 buses; and

    We have received approximately eight complaints regarding the closure of the bus stops on Drury Crescent and Trafalgar Way in Croydon.

                We have received no correspondence for Board Members in relation to the aforementioned  bus stop closures and no Members have notified us of any contact received directly by them.

  4. The number of judicial challenges, if any, received by TfL to previous TfL decisions to close individual bus stops and/or re-route bus services. For each case, please state the grounds for the judicial challenge together with the outcome of that particular case.

            We are not aware of any such challenges.
