Under Freedom of Information Request principles, please can you advise how you monitor the temperature of tube trains during hot periods. Please also provide the range of maximum temperatures recorded on your trains during summer periods, and the number of times the recorded temperature exceeds 25 degrees and 30 degrees. Thanks.

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 01 August 2024 asking for information about the temperature on the London Underground.

 

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Environmental Information Regulations and our information access policy. 

 

I can confirm that we do not hold the information you require. You asked:

 

Please can you advise how you monitor the temperature of tube trains during hot periods. 

 

Please also provide the range of maximum temperatures recorded on your trains during summer periods, and the number of times the recorded temperature exceeds 25 degrees and 30 degrees. 

 

We do not record on train temperatures. However, it may interest you to explore the average London Underground tube line data which can be found on the following website: London Underground Average Monthly Temperatures - London Datastore
