I hope you don't mind me asking this but do you know what happened to the tram that was involved in the Sandilands Accident in 2016? ever since it happened it's disappeared into thin air and i was just curious to know what happened to it and where it is

Our Ref:         FOI-1399-2425

Thank you for your request received on 29 July 2024 asking for information about the tram involved in the Sandilands derailment of November 2016.

We will never forget the day that Dane Chinnery, Donald Collett, Robert Huxley, Philip Logan, Dorota Rynkiewicz, Philip Seary, and Mark Smith tragically died and a further 62 people were injured in 2016 when a tram derailed at Sandilands junction in Croydon.
 
Our thoughts remain with the families and friends of those who lost their lives, and with everyone affected.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.

The tram involved in the derailment was taken to the Rail Accident Investigation Branch, Farnborough Head Offices at Farnborough Airport for their investigations. It has since been returned to us and is currently being stored in a secure location.
