Clarification Under case ref 0538-2021
Request ID: FOI-1399-2021
Date published: 11 November 2020
You asked
Under the above FOI request, TFL replied that it does not hold the records to signages and road markings on the A104 by Mews Place Woodford Green and that the London Borough of Redbridge(LBR) is responsible.
However, LBR said "If your enquiry is related to the speed camera signage and markings you will need to contact Transport for London as they own, install and maintain all safety camera installations in London.”
Can I be informed if the road signages and markings are the responsibilities of TFL. If so can you please provide the road signages and markings on the A104 in the vicinity of Mews Place Woodford Green. The information required are for example, speed limits and changes to speed limits, camera information display. It will be appreciated if this dates back to 2015.

I am sorry that our original reply was not entirely clear. To clarify, TfL was responsible for adding the road markings and signage that specifically relates to the speed camera when it was installed on 24 July 2015. Our records show that when the camera was installed secondary check carriageway markings were also added. Also, as part of the installation, generic speed camera information signs were also installed along with a small ‘repeater’ speed limit sign to show a speed limit of 30 mph.
Changes to speed limits, the general speed limit signs in the vicinity of Mews Place and any other road markings are not the responsibility of TfL as we are not the highway authority for this road.
