Thank you for your email received by us on 17 August 2018 asking for information about any plans to extend Oyster card usage.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the [Freedom of Information (FOI) Act and our information access policy.  You asked for the following:

can I please be informed on the areas TfL are currently planning to extend the Oyster area, once permission has been received, as well as if any plans are in the works for the Brighton Mainline further than Gatwick Airport.

Unfortunately we do not hold the information you have requested as responsibility for any decision to extend the Oyster and contactless area lies jointly with the Government’s Department for Transport (DfT) and the various Train Operating Companies. As and when such a decision is made, Transport for London will provide support to enable the extension to be implemented.
